Day 2

Finally relieved that it's the weekend, but the fact that I have cram school on weekends just ruins the moment. Cross country practice yesterday was tiring, according to most of the members. Last week there were only two members, including me. But yesterday, we've increased by ten. Probably due to the start of school.

We did a mile run around the park, and I finished second

the start of school

First day of classes was today. I don't feel like a senior yet. I feel like there's still a grade above me. All these years there was always a grade above me; I wasn't at the top of the roof. But as time flies, here I am in my last year of high school when I was just drawing and playing with blocks in middle school. Finish school strong, I say to myself.

late evening cram school

Cram school was late today. All because of Hurricane Irene.
Started at 5, and ended around 10. First day of school the next day.

Classmates were shockingly unprepared. One girl asked for a calculator, and another even asked for a pencil! How do you forget a pencil-- the primary writing instrument for all tests!!??! So I lent her one of mine.

The girl who sat next to me during the test flipped through previous sections, and the proctor mistakingly told us to write in pen. Can the procedure get any worse?

At the end, I headed outside amidst the dark, foggy atmosphere, and headed home, the rain lightly misting on my face.

First XC and Cupcake

Attended the first cross country practice... in the rain!

Just being inside the school reminds me of another--actually the last-- school year. The atmosphere full of students, new students, teachers, and parents. Orientations going around, undifferentiated blabbering noises in the lobby. A fresh start. I was training in the stairs, while occasionally stopping and saying hello to teachers. Running up the stairs reminds me of climbing up the steep steps of Diamond Head in Waikiki.

It's tiring if you run up the stairs for a while, working out all of your leg muscles. But the less you think about the pain, the more faster and easier it is for you to reach the top, it seems. Like the Marines or the Army said, "pain is weakness coming out of the body."

When I'm running I think about absolutely nothing. It's not like I want to; I can't. Your mind is focused on running that you can't really think of anything else. If you are, that means you aren't trying your hardest. It's like your body controls you, and when you reach the finish line and slow down, you come back to the real world and you start to control your body.

Oh, by the way, not to cut off this little thing about running here, but I ate an Oreo cupcake yesterday(^^)
