Mario Kart 7 Review

Mario Kart 7 is unquestionably an addictive, racing game for the Nintendo 3DS. They are a number of new features installed in this game, such as the kart customization, which allows you to construct your kart from the bare bones, from the wheels to the glider to the body itself. There are newcomers in the game, such as Metal Mario and Wiggler, and there are new, fresh courses. The graphics are superb. This game stands alone to be one of the most entertaining racing games. However there are some flaws.

Some of the unlockable characters are unneeded, such as queen bee and wiggler. In fact, they are very minor characters that appear only in one if not a handful of games. Queen Bee appears in the Super Mario Galaxy series, and Wiggler appears in every other Mario game. Rosalina and Metal Mario are okay, because they are somewhat popular characters overall. I think they should've brought back Waluigi and replaced one of the unlockable characters with Professor E. Gadd from Luigi's Mansion. Regarding being replaced by Dry Bones (who'd wanna race as that thing anyway?) in Mario Kart DS, I feel that he deserves a spot in Mario Kart 7. Also because he is funny.

Although there are Grand Prix, Time Trials, Balloon Runners, and Coin Runners, there is no more Vs. So you are basically left with racing four courses competitively in the Grand Prix, racing alone in Time Trials, or fighting and bumping off each other in Coin/Balloon runners. Personally, I liked the Vs. option because it allowed me to casually race without having to think about getting first. You got to choose how many races, how many wins, how many CPU's, etc. But now that that option is gone, I'm kind of always hesitating which option to choose. That's why I eventually just race online, which leads me to my next point.

The courses in the game are creative and fun, but the glitch in Maka Wuhu seriously needs to be fixed. If it weren't for the glitch and the douchebag cheaters playing unfairly in online mode, Maka Wuhu would've been my favorite course. Now because of this tomfoolery, online racing is mostly ruined. Cheaters request Maka Wuhu every time just so they could use that glitched shortcut and win, leaving all the other real racers in the dust. What a joke.

But overall, Mario Kart 7 is a great fast-paced racing game that keeps me playing for hours (^^
