Spring Break and All

Just like that, spring break is coming to a close. And just like that, the rest of the school year will probably come to a close as well. For some reason, a year in college seems to go by quicker than a year in high school.
The first night of spring break I managed to meet a couple and their adorable daughter. I played the unexpected role of a babysitter for a couple of hours as she often smiled at me. Making babies laugh takes a lot of effort you know. It requires getting hurt and a keen sense of exaggeration.

In the end she ran towards me and hugged my legs. Her height could only manage hugging my legs so I kneeled down to her height and hugged her back. I gave the gesture of a high five and she slapped my hand like a pro. With her zebra-colored fur jacket, red skinny jeans, and a knit hat, she snickered.

A typical attire in campus.

The rest of the break I relaxed in the house, sleeping in till the PM. Some days I worked out and trained with my buddies in my hometown TKD dojang. Other days I took neighborhood strolls with mom as I avoided the homework I had to do. Since I had some time in my hands and wanted to take a break from studying, I bought a copy of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon on its release date. I played it daily, advancing on to the next level with relative ease, though there are a lot of tricky missions in there. The game is hands down creative and VERY fun. I guess I can say it's better than the first one though I do miss some of the old song arrangements, sound effects, and the gallery ghosts from the first one (Melody Pianissima, The Floating Whirlindas, etc). But the second one includes 5 mansions and so much more variety.

Then, of course you cannot forget the man who organizes this whole ghost hunt, Professor Elvin Gadd and his gibberish.

Suku suku, yabo yabo. Oidoro? Yabo yabo samenotake. Uw uw umakaa, sousuusa. aaahh, qwa qwa qwa.

Spring break, however, is not completely over. I still have a full day ahead of me and I plan to spend it as enjoyable as possible. Sleeping and shopping. Before I go back to campus and start engaging in endless days and nights of studying and reading, I figure that it's a good idea.

Ironic how spring break is around the corner and my area is currently buried in snow. Right now I am in the middle of trying to study for my science midterm tomorrow. If classes get cancelled tomorrow then the midterm will also most likely be postponed. But truth be told I'd rather get it over with.

Shame that both Japan and USA lost in the world baseball classic. Oh well there's always 2017.

rant about this college

It really irks me how literally none of the dryers work in this freaking college. I mean can you really expect that? Is that really possible? How am I supposed to dry my clothes? By hanging it up outside? As if this college was luxurious enough to have terraces. It has not been fixed since the beginning of the school year in the fall. They had all winter break. And the dryers STILL are not fixed. Really now? This college needs some major fixing all around.

And how literally ALL of the doors squeak, and how literally ALL of the tables wobble. I can go further and say how the tv jack for the coaxial cable also does not work, so it seems. I plugged in the cable and it all I get from the tv is white noise.

The bathroom lights all went out, the bathroom door doesn't lock, the showers are covered in mold, the sink does not run hot water until for about five minutes, and there is a stinkbug on my window. These are not first world problems. Regarding the fee for this college, you can expect a little more.

It is a total nuisance.

But whatever.

I'm trying to do whatever I can to go about my normal days but when these inconveniences happen it just annoys the hell out of me.

Match sparring on campus

First ever taekwondo match sparring seminar on campus. Like, finally. But proud of these members for giving it their all experiencing their first sparring matches.

The Great Sandwich Chef

My mornings are usually spent at the campus deli with my suite mate. While we both watch Robin Meade give us the latest headlines on TV, we wolf down our food. What ever happened to Good Morning America, I tend to think to myself.

One afternoon I headed to the campus deli for a sandwich as per usual. I skipped lunch due to a class that pretty much conflicts with the lunchtime hours. The time the class ends and right before TKD club is slated for a quick lunch. I go to the sandwich bar and the chef immediately admired my smile. Now as I see it these chefs usually work with sheer ennui and usually the process goes as follows:
"Roast beef on sub," I say.
They would nod. "Cheese?"
"Swiss please. Can I get it toasted too?"
They would do so.
"What else," they would say.
"Lettuce," I say.
"What else."
"Tomato, onions, salt&pepper, mayo. That's it."
They wrap the sandwich and hand it to me.

But this time it went differently. Much different. One chef took my order.

"You have a very nice smile," he said, with his slight Spanish accent.
"Thanks!" I said.
"What nationality are you?" He kindly asked.
"Japanese," I replied.
He made an envious gesture as if Japanese was the greatest nationality ever known. His entire face brimming with elation and he sighed as if I was his noble savior.
"I love Japanese things, its culture." he said.
I nodded in agreement.
"Konnichiwa and Arigatougozaimasu," he continued. "That's all I got."
"Not bad," I snickered.
"Films," he went on, placed his hand on his heart and sighed. "Oh my god. The Geisha one..."
"Memoirs of a Geisha," I filled in.
"YES! Oh I love that. And the Last Samurai. Wata..."
"Ken Watanabe is great," I helped him again.
"YES!!"
"This is the happiest day in my life," he said.
A bit nonplussed and delighted at the same time, I said, "I'm glad."
He laughed in good spirits.
Right then I felt like a celebrity. Would you like me to sign your apron? I thought to myself.
He carefully built my sandwich in perfect form and I gotta admit it was the best sandwich I've had in a while at this campus. The chef also brought me in good spirits. Turned this typical, monotonous, mundane Monday into a good one. Thank you!!

sNOo

If only it would stop snowing.
今晚下雪了。太不方便了。我觉得下雪不是不好但是很漂亮。哈哈。
雪はとてもキレイだけど、僕は嫌いです。
Now I gotta worry about not getting my shoes ruined. Hope that classes get canceled. Apparently the college is going to notify us by 5am.

My god I'm so hungry right now. Need like, curry. Or Chipotle.

A Dream from a While Ago

My suite mate brought me in his room with his friend. While he was looking for something on the computer she and I introduced ourselves. Seconds after I leaned in and we made out for about three seconds. And she was an absolute beauty. She was in the same grade as me from the fifth grade all the way to graduation, but we never really talked or had the same classes. But since her middle school years she was nothing but beautiful. Her sharp, piercing blue eyes, along with her just-right pale skin and shimmering brown hair. My suite mate, intent on the computer screen, never saw us. I didn't even know if they were dating; but it seemed likely. Thus I had no idea why I leaned in and made the move. I had no idea she went with it either. It was a subconscious movement that somehow, only us-- the girl and I--understood. She wore a jean jacket and black skinny jeans. Since her jacket was unbuttoned, she was able to reveal her Wu Tang Clan concert shirt. Necklaces and bracelets here and there and her brown hair was gracefully straightened. Black converse to finish off the look. There couldn't be a prettier woman.

"Care to explain that?" she said with a light smile.
I made sure to choose the right words. Although both of my suite mate's eyes were on the screen, that did not deter him from hearing what we were saying.
"It was an accident," I said, showing her my 'cut' on my finger. My suite mate looked at my finger and back at me. He was wearing a jean jacket and thick, round glasses.
"Well you better be careful," he said, not realizing anything that happened.
She looked at me, made movements with her lips, possibly saying, "You're so smooth."
"I'll show you around town," she suggested. "What do you say, M? Can I give him a personal tour?"
So his name was M...
"Fine by me," M replied, his eyes still on the screen, clicking on the mouse every other second. His long hair was tied back into a ponytail. "Just come back in an hour."

Whereupon the girl and I strolled around town. The first place she took me was a museum. Exactly what kind of museum, I had no idea.
"It's like the Natural History Museum," she said. "Except they primarily are known for showing films. Like a movie theater, except the films are all about science," she laughed. "We have time to watch one. Which one do you want to see?"
I looked at the four movie posters hung up on the wall. I glanced at each one, feeling seemingly indifferent to all.
"It's okay," she said. "We can watch one next time. There are tons of other attractions in this town I need to show you."
A brunette girl, similar to the appearance of Mila Kunis, suddenly tapped her on the shoulder. She turned and, recognizing her, they hugged. They exchanged their recent whereabouts and news. As far as I knew they seemed to be friends, but not best friends. Classmates, perhaps. She never introduced me so I continued to stare at the posters, this time with much more focus.

About five minutes, brunette departs.
"Sorry," she said. "My old friend."
I knew it, I said in my mind.
"Let's walk outside."
"Let's."
Kunis look-a-like was sitting by the bench, leisurely having a smoke with her legs crossed. She never caught the girl's attention but she seemed to notice me. We stared for a couple of seconds, her expression blank as ever. Then I look away, back at the wondrous town and its amenities.

"So tell me," the girl said, playfully curious. "Our really brief make out session.."

Then my dream ended there.

中文课

这是我的中文功课。我们得写一个故事。
This is part of my Chinese homework lol.
